HENRY

Henry

Tom aka ‘Henry’ was originally homed in October 2019, a difficult character at the best of times, a bully to other cats and very unpredictable with humans. He gave no warning of an ‘attack’, some of which led to a few hospital visits for his new carers.

Unfortunately, as time went on the attacks grew more common with Henry latching on to an arm or leg without warning. His carers had to make a very difficult decision and Henry came back to RAIN during lockdown early last summer 2020.

The closure of Cudham Cattery, was looming upon us at the end of 2020. Plans were made, cats were rehomed, but what to do about Henry? As the closing date approached Steve and Pauline, Cudham’s owners, assured us that Henry could stay in their care until someone suitable came along to look after him, In reality they would have taken Henry on as a close bond was being formed between Steve and Henry but they had their own RAIN cats to consider and tough decisions had to be made to prevent further stress on both sides.

We ran campaigns to find Henry's forever home - people saying "I would if I could but I have other cats/young children (children – another of Henry’s dislikes!).

Then, out of the blue, earlier this year Tracy contacted us, saying that Henry was the perfect companion for her – we were airing on the side of caution, as he was such an unpredictable cat and it was critical to get this rehoming right. Tracy visited Henry and it was love at first sight, and to everyone’s surprise, delight, and holding of breath, she took him home!

We suggested fostering for a while just to see how things went - with everything crossed for Henry's future - Tracy knows exactly how to read his moods, he did disgrace himself and bite her once but now they have an understanding. Henry is now fully adopted and as the recent photos show Henry has found his forever home at last. Everyone at RAIN is so delighted that this story has had such a happy ending.

Thank you Tracy and all our other adoptees for giving their homes to a RAIN rescue cat.
